A common mistake among people is that Global Warming is caused by the hole in the ozone layer; it's not! These are two separate issues. Global warming is the continuous increase in earth's surface temperature as a result of the increasing concentration of Carbon di oxide (CO2) gas in atmosphere.
Where is the CO2 coming from?
More than 50% of it is coming from our cars, from power plants, and from the industrial plants.
Okay, so what's the problem here? why should I be concerned?
Well, for one, didn't you notice that every year is hotter than the year before it in Kuwait and the middle east? That's a result of global warming. The real danger though is that as a result of the increasing temperatures in earth, the north and south poles are melting causing a continuous rise in oceans levels. The Maldives island is set to sink under the ocean and disappear from earth within 100 years if global warming continuous. More effects are: spread of disease, intense weather conditions, shift in climate, and more. Read the Global Warming wikipedia for more.
Can the damage be undone?
Yes if something is done now. It is estimated by scientists that if nothing is done, within 10 years, the damage is permanent.
What can be done about it?
The answer is simple. Governments should act to make strict rules to reduce carbon di oxide emissions.
